Day by Day Safari Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by your professional driver-guide, who will give you a short briefing about your upcoming safari. You will then be transferred in comfort to your lodge in Arusha, a vibrant town nestled at the foot of Mount Meru and known as the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. Depending on your arrival time, you may relax at the lodge, enjoy the tropical gardens, or stroll around the town to soak in the atmosphere of local life. DAY 2: KILIMANJARO DAY HIKE OR MATERUNI VILLAGE TOUR
After breakfast, your adventure begins with a choice between two incredible experiences. If you are drawn to nature, opt for a day hike on Mount Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route. Trek through lush rainforests filled with birds, monkeys, and exotic flora until you reach Mandara Hut, enjoying sweeping views of the mountain’s slopes. Alternatively, immerse yourself in the culture of the Chagga people at Materuni Village. Here, you will walk past banana plantations, learn about traditional farming, discover the secrets of coffee-making, and relax at the base of Materuni Waterfalls. Whichever option you choose, the day is full of adventure and culture before returning to Arusha for dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK – GAME DRIVES & WALKING SAFARI
Today you will experience one of Tanzania’s most diverse parks, Arusha National Park. Begin with a game drive across rolling savannahs and forested landscapes where giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and warthogs roam freely. The Momella Lakes are a paradise for bird lovers, often dotted with flamingos. A highlight of the day is a guided walking safari led by an armed ranger, offering a rare chance to walk among wildlife and admire the park’s beautiful scenery with Mount Meru as a dramatic backdrop. Return to Arusha in the evening for a relaxed dinner & overnight at the lodge.

DAY 4: ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK – GAME DRIVES
After breakfast, drive through the countryside towards Tarangire National Park, a jewel of northern Tanzania known for its iconic baobab trees and vast elephant herds. Spend the day exploring the park’s sweeping landscapes, river valleys, and open plains. You may spot lions lounging in the shade, leopards hidden in trees, or wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes grazing in the savannah. Tarangire is also home to over 500 bird species, making it a birder’s paradise. After a full day of adventure, continue to the Lake Manyara region where you will settle into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK – GAME DRIVES
This morning, head to Lake Manyara National Park, a scenic gem nestled beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, which are rarely seen elsewhere, and for its huge diversity of birdlife, including pelicans, storks, and flamingos along the lake’s shoreline. The park’s habitats vary from groundwater forests teeming with baboons and blue monkeys to acacia woodlands frequented by elephants and giraffes. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park while surrounded by nature before returning to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

DAY 6: LAKE EYASI AND THE HADZABE TRIBE EXPERIENCE
After an early breakfast, drive to Lake Eyasi for a cultural encounter with the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last hunter-gatherer communities in East Africa. Join them on a traditional hunt, watch them make fire using sticks, and learn how they live in harmony with nature. You’ll also visit the Datoga tribe, skilled metalworkers who craft jewelry and tools. This day offers a rare insight into Tanzania’s indigenous cultures. Return to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7: NGORONGORO CRATER TO CENTRAL SERENGETI
After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. Known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” this volcanic caldera shelters an incredible concentration of wildlife including lions, elephants, hippos, and the rare black rhino. The crater floor offers dramatic scenery with open grasslands, swamps, and the shimmering Lake Magadi. After a picnic lunch inside the crater, continue your journey into the Serengeti, where the vast endless plains await. DAY 8: CENTRAL SERENGETI TO NORTHERN SERENGETI

Later, drive northwards through the Serengeti, enjoying spectacular landscapes along the way. DAY 9: WILDEBEEST MIGRATION – NORTHERN SERENGETI

DAY 10: NORTHERN SERENGETI AND OPTIONAL BALLOON SAFARI
Begin your day before sunrise with an optional hot air balloon safari over the northern plains. Continue your day with more game drives, tracking the migration and exploring the northern kopjes and woodland areas where predators often rest.

 DAY 11: NORTHERN SERENGETI TO LAKE NATRON
After breakfast, enjoy an en route game drive as you depart the Serengeti and travel towards the striking volcanic landscapes of Lake Natron. The drive takes you through rugged terrain with incredible views of Ol Doinyo Lengai, the sacred mountain of the Maasai. On arrival, admire the otherworldly beauty of the area. Dinner and overnight at the lodge, under the starlit African sky.

DAY 12: LAKE NATRON EXPLORATION & RETURN TO ARUSHA
This morning, embark on a guided walk to the Engaresero Waterfalls, a hidden oasis surrounded by cliffs and lush vegetation, where you can take a refreshing swim in the natural pools. Later, explore the shores of Lake Natron, where flamingos breed in huge numbers, creating a pink shimmer on the lake’s surface. Learn about the geology and ecology of this extraordinary environment before beginning your scenic drive back to Arusha. Arrive in the evening and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 13: LAKE DULUTI OR NKORANGA COFFEE TOUR
After breakfast, you will choose between two enriching experiences. Option one takes you to Lake Duluti, where you will enjoy a guided walk around the Crater Lake and a peaceful canoeing adventure, spotting kingfishers, eagles, and herons along the way. Option two offers a full-day coffee tour in Nkoranga Village, where you will meet local farmers, learn traditional farming practices, and roast and brew your own fresh cup of coffee. DAY 14: DEPARTURE
After a leisurely breakfast, enjoy your last moments in Arusha, perhaps shopping for souvenirs or relaxing at the lodge. Depending on your flight schedule, your driver-guide will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.
